It’s YOUR business – not mine!
You are the BOSS! Most of my clients are women, and have never been the Boss before. They ask lots of questions, where do I start, what should I do, should I blog or do social media? My job is not to make your decisions, it is to help you establish the parameters of your business. To be successful you need a plan, and that’s how I work. First things first, we build a business plan that works for you and your type of business.
Being a Boss does not mean you turn into Glenn Close in “The Devil Wears Prada”. You can be kind but firm, and make decisions based on your intuition. Afterall you are a woman.
You have to schedule time to work on your business, not just in your business. Baking cupcakes, arranging events, designing websites, or running a landscape business is your passion and makes you happy to be a business owner. Don’t tell me that the business side of the business is boring. Being the owner requires more that doing your craft, you have to manage your business.
Even Oprah says she still personally signs the checks – why? Because she has to keep a finger on the pulse of her business.
I love the ability for you to be able to outsource things you don’t like to do, or have the skill set to do.
Don’t get burned, take time to do your due diligence, get references, check with the county or state and verify that they are actually a licensed and insured business. If you need referrals to business pros, ask me. I am happy to help you find people that would be a good fit for you and your business.
You need to understand everything that goes on to make the business run. It’s not boring, it’s your business!
